Teaching and tutoring experience

In 2008 I completed a Nutrition and Dietetics BSc degree at Kings College London, which focussed on core biomedical sciences of physiology, biochemistry and the professional practice of communication and ethics. I then studied for a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) before teaching A level Biology, including the new linear A level, for a number of years in a large sixth-form College.

My Masters in Education investigated the factors that have the greatest impact on the exam results of sixth-form Biology students and my dissertation was awarded the highest mark in the cohort. In 2016 and 2017 approximately 65% of my students achieved A*-B grades and the 'value-added' for all my classes were within the top 10% nationally, with some classes achieving within the top 1%.

The techniques developed in my teaching practice are now embedded into my private tutoring, which I have been offering for the past 4 years. Tutees often see a 2 or three grade improvement and in 2017, 2018 and 2019 the majority of my regular tutees achieved A*-B at A-level.

I offer tuition at my home in Colden Common, Winchester and at the Discovery Centre. I regularly tutor students attending Peter Symonds (Eduqas), Barton Peveril (AQA), King Edward VI School (Edexcel), Richard Tauntons (AQA) and St Swithuns (OCR BIOLOGY A).
